Just Cause? Scoring Rubric & Extended Due Date

Due date for paper has been extended to Wednesday, Nov. 25.
Please follow publishing guidelines on the writing guide document.
You must print out your final paper as well as the document with the organizers and drafts. You must also print the rubric and self-assessment/reflection sheets (see link below) and bring them to class with you on Wed. Nov. 25.
Late papers will lose points.
You will be asked to upload your work via PupilPath as well as complete a self-assessment/reflection there, as well.

For those of you still having difficulty opening and printing the rubric on the PupilPath assignment, open the rubric and print it HERE. You MUST be signed into your WJPS email to access the document.

In PupilPath you MUST be signed in to your PupilPath account to complete the assignment and upload your work. If you are signed in as your parents, the work WILL NOT upload.

Submitting your response paper - due Fri. 10/10

Many of you are having difficulty using Pupilpath to upload your work.
Troubleshoot:
1. You must be signed into Pupilpath under your student account, not under your parents' account. Parents cannot complete the work!
2. To upload from Googledocs you must be signed into your WJPS email.
Several of you have uploaded but some of the files are blank. Please upload again. Thank you!
Bring printed final with printed rubric to class on Friday 10/10.

A Walk Across America Response

TASK: You will prove that Peter Jenkins is an American Character with evidence from and analysis of the book, A Walk Across America.
DUE: Wednesday Oct. 8

Response must be typed, single-spaced, Times New Roman 12-point font.
In addition to a hard copy plus rubric, you must upload the document via Pupilpath (Google Docs).
Late papers (past period 3, Wed., Oct. 8) will lose 5 points per day late.

In your paper be sure to:
Claim Peter Jenkins is an American Character for a reason - not just because he walked across the country.
Prove that reason with text evidence (quoted with page # and paraphrased in your own words) PLUS analysis (why the text evidence proves your claim).
Provide original thinking and interpretation.
Cite all of your sources (according to the book, page 17...."........"
 or In the article entitled "Name of Article", it says "....."
Check your grammar and spelling
Make sure your writing makes sense.

Do not:
Simply rehash what we've already discussed in class.
Repeat yourself.
Make vague over-generalized statements such as "Peter wanted to see the country".
